Had a bad day

This life
This culture
Wrapped up in it and all of its tendrils
All of its thorns
Locked in like a zip tie
No letting go
So dark and muddy not even the light of truth can shine here
Everything absorbed
Everything consumed
Demons lurking in every corner
Selfish desires corrupting us all
The hidden rage and contempt in men's desires stains the thin veneer we call pride
Ego leaves us caught out in the open
Hope keeps us alive
Hope of a better tomorrow that never comes, or do we just forget how bad yesterday was?
It is the forgetfulness of mankind that allowed us to adapt into this greedy nightmare
We forget the harm we caused, and forget how evil each of us can be,
and then say we are free to be who we want to be
